This is a blog about the Gospel message of Jesus Christ. Paul the Apostle said, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation for everyone who believes.” Romans 1:16. What is Paul talking about? What power of the gospel? Religion has the power to prescribe morality. But rules don’t have the power to make people better, any more than a measuring tape can make a person taller. The Gospel message promises forgiveness of sin through repentance and faith! The power of God’s Holy Spirit is promised, and changed lives throughout history have left proven the inspired words of Paul are correct.
The content of the gospel is like a liquid. The church is a vessel. Jesus gave us the liquid inside, but he didn’t prescribe the shape of the vessel. Today we see the powerful work of the Holy Spirit through the message of the gospel on display in many different cultural forms. The “liquid” rests in many different cultural “vessels”. Not all cultural elements of every church are good! How can Christians discern which cultural elements are Godly, which neutral and which are fallen? Join the discussion today!
